Fushigi Yuugi – The Next Generation: Cast
This cast is incredibly large as you can see. So, think of this as a score card for you to keep track of the characters. This list is the most complete I can give you without giving away the plot.
Original Character (own by Yuu Watase). These are just some of the characters I have named. I’ll be using more characters later:
Yuki Keisuke – world renown author of ancient Chinese fiction
Kajiwara Yui – formally Hongo Yui; magazine editor, former investigative reporter, wife of Tetsuya, mother of Seijitsu and Soki, 1st Seiryuu no Miko.
Kajiwara Tetsuya – professor in ancient Chinese Literature; father to Seijitsu and Soki, husband of Yui
Chichiri – Suzaku seishi; master illusionist; traveling monk; trains Boushin
Tasuki – Suzaku seishi; iron fire fan; illusions with paper; guards Boushin; father of four
Houki – Empress of Konan; mother of Boushin; loves her son very much despite lack of affection; mourns the death of her husband, Hotohori
My characters, the seishi are in the order in which they appear. Their names as seishi is in quotes and is defined. The words should be correct. The location of each of the kanji is also for your reference. I make it a point not to say what their powers are. You will have to read to find out, and let me say some of them are amazing:
Suzaku Seven:
Sukunami Mariko – Suzaku no Miko; daughter of Tamahome and Miaka; highly intelligent, cunning, head bookie, Ferris Buller-like; 17 yrs old. There is something strange about this girl.
Kajiwara Seijitsu – 1st seishi; Yui and Tetsuya’s oldest son;; “Seijitsu” – loyalty (forehead); 17 yrs old
Emperor Boushin – (character owned by Yuu Watase) child of Hotohori; for my piece, one of the new Suzaku Seven; trained by Chichiri and guarded by Tasuki; “Odayaka” – serene, 19 yrs old; Kanji located on his right wrist pulse point
Kou Lei – daughter of Kou Shun’u (Tasuki), 15 yrs old. Youngest of three older triplet brothers; kanji located behind her right ear; “Hono’o” – blaze
Bi Anlan – female metal smith; first mistaken for a man; weapons maker; “Shitsu” – quality; kanji located on her upper back left shoulder
Shi Meirong – a girl who is of marriageable age; about 16 years old; “Kawa” – river; kanji located on her left palm
Lin Weilun – a farmer; familyman; “Taki” – cascade; kanji located on his right bicep
Wei Kuairong – a wandering swordsman/figher; “Shiro” – castle; kanji located on his lateral right side
Seiryuu Seven:
Kinomoto Miwa – Seiryuu no Miko; comes from a political family; student council president; rivals with Mariko, cares about image; 18 yrs old
Sukunami Hoshi – 1st seishi; son of Tamahome and Miaka; martial artist, college student; 20 yrs old; “Ryu” – dragon (forehead)
Feng Shunrong – the sister of the Emperor of Kuto; 14 years old; “Hoseki” – jewel; kanji is located on her ankle
Fang Jiexian – an imperial guard for the Emperor of Kuto; “Iwa” – stone; kanji is located over his heart
Huang Aorong – a huntress who lives in the woods outside of the capital city of Kuto; “Mori” – harpoon; kanji located on her right cheek on her face
Bu Tanrui – one of the twin sons of Amboshi’s; very athletic; “Mai” – dance; kanji located on his right heel
Bu Rongsha – the other twin son of Amboshi; plays the flute like his father (not his power); kanji located on his left bicep
Bi Jingang – a very typical ordinary guy who lives close to the border of Konan; “Kaga” – shadow; kanji located on top of his left knee
Byakko Seven:
Okano Amai – Byakko no Miko; father and mother divorced, father has custody; sweet, shy, submissive, intelligent; 15 yrs old
Asaiya Tei – 1st seishi; student council treasurer; gambler; “Inochi” – life (forehead)
Ao Zhisu – yet another gambler, Inochi and he always play games; “Sakana” – fish; kanji located on his top left hand
Ma Aiwu – a singer from the capital city of Sairo; “Kaze” – wind; kanji located on her top right breast
Mao Fei – a stage actress; very calm and likes green tea; part of one of the top acting troops in all of Sairo; “Kitsune” – fox; kanji on located on the center of her throat
Fang Suliang – a woman who is working in the temple of one of the villages; “Tsuki” – moon; kanji located under her right eye
Shi Mantian – daughter of a widow scholar; 11 years old; “Neko” – cat; kanji located on her left forearm
Kong Leiken – artist who specializes in sculpting; “Mori” – desert; kanji is located over his navel
Genbu Seven:
Soohoo Yoko – Genbu no Miko; not the smartest girl; she loves anime and manga; 16 yrs old; extremely annoying to all of her seishi
Sasaki Yoshi – 1st seishi; class genius; “Yogensha” – seer (forehead)
Gan Zheran – a former assassin (or currently unemployed); keeps threatening to kill his miko when the summoning is over (does he ever get his wish?); “Kokoro” – heart; kanji located on top of his right hand
An Zhishi – a wander; considered to be a failure by his family, and he brought them shame; “Seizonsha” – survivor; kanji located on the right side of his chest
Shi Tanfu – trained to be a monk at one of Genbu’s temples; “Kasumi” – haze; kanji located on his right thumb
Shen Ruishuo – a bandit (what a surprise?!); “Atama” – brain, head; kanji located on his top left foot
Kong Rongnu – comes from a small fishing village; “Tetsu” – iron; upper thigh
Bei Sihua – a con artist and a gentleman; a “pretty boy”; “Kori” – ice; kanji located on his left side below his clavicle
Other Characters. There are of course some minor characters. Fushigi Yuugi always has some, but here are some you have to look out for:
Emperor Feng Entai – Emperor of Kuto; part of the new dynasty
Tasuki’s triplets – yes. “We’re the boys!”; all have different personalities; their names are in the text; as of writing this I don’t have names for Tasuki’s boys (Tasuki: What?! What’s your friggin’ problem, ClareBear?!)
Kou Ling – Tasuki’s wife. She has her hands full considering that she’s raised four children (five, if you include Tasuki!). She is very tolerant woman who loves her husband and children very much.
Zhenyou Ran – a guide that helps the Suzaku Seven
Zia Rei – a powerful four elements witch; only one step below a god in power; she is very dangerous
